Rowallan Castle Wedding Photographer – Lesley and Andy
Towards the end of the summer I was photographing a lovely wedding, for Fiona and Greg at 29 Royal Exchange Square (blog post to come shortly!), and I was aware when I arrived that morning that one of Fiona’s bridesmaids seemed to know me, but I couldn’t recall who she was. She was also extremely keen to make everyone a cup of tea, whether they felt they needed one or not. It transpired that I did in fact know that bridesmaid as it was today’s bride, Lesley! In my defence it had been quite a few months since our pre-wedding meeting, and she was wearing pyjamas this time around… On Lesley and Andy’s wedding day, well into Autumn with the leaves on the trees turned colour and starting to fall, I found myself for the first time photographing at a Rowallan Castle wedding and, this time, Fiona was Lesley’s bridesmaid (I did recognise her I’m pleased to say).
After a brilliant wedding ceremony in Glasgow University Chapel, conducted by one of Andy’s friends, we captured the bulk of the family photographs and then spent an extra few minutes in the cloisters to get a few relaxed photographs. Glasgow University is a great place for wedding photographs as every angle affords a lovely backdrop of wonderful historical architecture. The only downside is that there are often students and tourists loitering in the background and I have to spend a while editing them all out in Photoshop – it’s a small price to pay though. We then left the University and drove down to Ayrshire for the wedding reception at the castle. What an amazing place Rowallan Castle is! It’s so good that there is even a spare castle next door for when you need more than just the one. The weather really couldn’t have been better. The sun was shining, there was hardly a cloud in the sky, and there was a beautiful old Jaguar to be used so we took the short trip down the driveway to the older of the two castles for a few pictures before returning to the main building for a few more. After that is was just all about the guests having a great time while I enjoyed wandering around the various rooms to capture some of the feeling of the day.
I cannot wait for the opportunity to return for another Rowallan Castle wedding. Hopefully it won’t be too long! Thank you Lesley and Andy for letting me add your wedding to my blog!
