I have been photographing elopements in Scotland for many years now and I absolutely love them! My style of photography is more documentary based, as opposed to setting up and posing each shot artificially, and my clients find it suits their elopements perfectly. Your elopement is completely unique and I will work with you to tell the story of your day. To make things as easy as possible I try to offer one elopement photography package that should include everything you need to make a beautiful record of your day.
Most people would think of an elopement as just two people however I actually find that many of my clients actually have a very small number of guests. If you are planning to invite a few of your best friends along please don’t worry, this smaller package is still available to you too!
The location of your wedding is really important when it comes to the cost – a wedding in Glasgow involves a lot less travel time than one in Torridon, and sometimes I have to stay overnight too. This makes it hard to give just one fixed price but all I ask is that you send me a few more details about your wedding, such as location, number of guests (if any) and the proposed date and I can send you a tailored price, and check my availability, for your own day.
Before deciding to book me as your photographer it can be really useful to have a quick chat either by telephone or video conferencing (Zoom / Facebook Messenger etc.) and I will be very happy to arrange that with you. I also like to have another meeting (by phone or video again) a few days before the wedding itself so that we can run through your plans in greater detail and I can answer any questions you might have before the wedding day. I am always happy to help with your plans though so please always feel free to let me know if there is anything at all I can help with.
Although I myself work all over Scotland the the north of England (I’ve photographed weddings in Cumbria and Yorkshire a few times) I also work very closely with a Humanist celebrant who is based in Arisaig, in the north-west of the Highlands. We have a little side hustle called Bog Cotton Scottish Elopements. If you are planning an elopement anywhere between Glencoe and the Isle of Skye we are able to give you some planning tips that can include help with epic locations, accommodation, flowers and anything else you might need. Paula is a celebrant and she has tons of advice about ceremonies and the legal side of things. One of our most recent weddings was this one https://www.silverphotography.co.uk/nils-and-fionas-arisaig-wedding.
I always like to run through the timings of your day with you at some point prior to the wedding but, generally speaking, I tend to start about an hour or so before the ceremony to capture some of the preparations. I then photograph the ceremony and that leaves a couple of hours more to take photographs of you both and any fiends and family that might be there. After several years of photographing smaller weddings I have found the four hours seems to be about the right length of time. If you do run over by half an hour or so then it really isn’t a problem for me at all. If you think you will need me for more than four hours I will be happy to give you an updated price.
All of your photographs will be edited to remove any unnecessary duplication and to ensure that the remaining pictures are looking great. I don’t do fancy effects or add cheesy filters – it is all about making your pictures look as good as possible. I love black and white photography and you can normally expect about 30-40% of your photographs to be monochrome. Of course, if you want more, or fewer, black and white shots then please just ask.
All of your edited, print-ready, photographs will be saved to a USB ash drive and posted to you, usually about three weeks after the wedding. The photographs will all be full size at 300dpi and will not have any logos or watermarks. Basically, you can print whatever you want, however many times you want, as long as it is for you and your friends and family. If you would prefer me to make your photographs available to download I can do that instead of posting a USB – my overseas clients tend to prefer this method.
Immediately after I have finished preparing your photographs for you they are uploaded to the internet in a password protected gallery where you and your friends and family can view them. Visitors can also order reprints, digital copies and Parent’s albums if they wish. I will email the link and password details as soon as the pictures are ready for viewing.

Trevor was amazing. We loved his humour on the day, his style and beautiful photos that were sent to us so quickly and overall communication start to finish. Highly recommend hiring Trevor for weddings and elopements. He put us both at ease on the day which was what we needed as both feel awkward on the other side of the camera. Thanks Trevor for helping to capture our day so wonderfully!
