Tiny Winter Wedding in Glasgow – Liza and Simon

For my very last blog post of 2016 I thought I would share this relaxed wedding which took place minutes from home here in Glasgow at the end of November. Liza and Simon wanted their winter wedding in Glasgow to be completely hassle free and as romantic as possible so they decided to have the day to themselves. And what a day – it was November 25th and, quite literally, freezing but there were completely clear skies and that lovely Scottish winter sun was hovering just above the horizon for the whole afternoon bathing the city in a wonderful warm glow.

I met Liza and Simon for the first time just that day, at the fantastic One Devonshire Gardens (officially Hotel du Vin but nobody calls it that), where I also met Liza’s hair and makeup artist again Laura Gray with whom I had worked on a few weddings with this year. Simon and Liza had decided to have some sort of ‘first look’ before the ceremony so, once Liza was finished with Laura she hid in the room downstairs whilst Simon waited outside on the steps. I loved the look of excitement on Simon’s face when he knew his wife-to-be was on her way! As there were no guests or bridal party there was a really chilled atmosphere and we even had time for a few pictures around One Devonshire before heading over into the city centre  for the ceremony at the marriage suites on Montrose Street. Simon’s brother was one witness but the second person couldn’t make it so I was roped in to help which was lovely.

After the ceremony the light outside was outstanding so we all jumped into a taxi (I killed any post-ceremony romance but I did offer to get my own ride) and headed up to Park Circus where Liza used to live. We took a few photographs at that spot and then wandered through the park for as long as we could bear the cold for. As I’ve mentioned on this blog before, I absolutely love working with couples who are planning very small weddings -they are always so relaxing and romantic!
