A Fun Yorkshire Farmyard Wedding – Louise and Rob
Although most of my wedding photography is done in Scotland each year I get to travel a little further afield and photograph weddings in England. In June this year I had two weddings down south – one in the Hospitium in York and, just the week before, Louise and Robs amazing Yorkshire farmyard wedding near Harrogate! Rob and Louise live and work on a farm in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside close to the town of Boroughbridge. Many of my clients try desperately to find a farm to hold their wedding but Rob and Louise actually have one of their own so it made sense for them to have their wedding there!
Louise and her bridesmaids, Charlotte and Jessica, all spent the morning getting ready in the small village of Bishop Monkton and I flitted between capturing some shots of them and getting a few pictures of the guys across the road in the pub. As farmers it was very fitting for them to dispense with the usual vintage Rolls Royce wedding car and instead choose something more appropriate – a John Deere 8400R tractor, kindly lent to them by Ripon Farm Services. It was a little bigger than the usual wedding cars I photograph but definitely plusher with air conditioning and nice comfy seats. Possibly not as easy to get in and out of in a dress but that was a small price to pay. At least it had somewhere on the back to tie tin cans onto. After a lovely ceremony in the local church, with a pitchfork guard of honour, it was back into the tractor and home to the farm for the fun to begin. One of the many advantages to having a wedding on your own farm is that your horse can be part of the day too – Charlie seemed to have a great time and got to meet loads of new folk. I even managed to persuade Louise to take him for a walk as the sun was setting to capture some nice golden-hour pictures.
Thank you Louise and Rob for asking me to photograph your wedding for you – I had a great time and can’t wait for more Yorkshire weddings!
