Summer Springkell Wedding Photos
Flora and David’s Summer Springkell Wedding Photos
Nestled in acres of countryside in the Scottish borders Springkell is one of the bigger venues I keep returning to the most each year. Every wedding I’ve photographed there (and there have been plenty) has been amazing and today I thought I’d share with you Flora and David’s summer Springkell wedding photos from my most recent visit there.
Outdoor Ceremony
Everyone knows the weather in Scotland can be a bit temperamental and, despite so many of my couples hoping to have an outside ceremony at Springkell, the rain had meant that all the ceremonies I’ve photographed there have had to be indoors, with the exception of the very first one. One ceremony was indoors because it was actually too hot outside, but that’s a rare thing! Flora and David really got one of those perfect Scottish summer days for their wedding and they made the decision to have their ceremony in the setting of the round garden behind Springkell house itself. Brilliant for photography because I had so much space to move around in the shadows.
Golden Hour Wedding Photographs
After a wonderful afternoon on the lawns in front of the main house making some fun summer Springkell wedding photos, and capturing the speeches inside the marquee, the sun started to dip towards the horizon. When the conditions are perfect (i.e. not cloudy), and you can time it just right, the soft and warm evening light is absolutely beautiful for photography. In the daytime the sun is high in the sky and shadows are everywhere. During the famous golden hour time there are far fewer shadows, less glare and so much opportunity to make great images. It’s also a really nice time for you to have a short break away from the chaos of the wedding day!
