Crear Wedding – Susannah and Chris

Crear Wedding – Susannah and Chris

Ever since I first saw a photograph of the venue and its location I knew I had to photograph a Crear wedding for myself. Over on the west coast of Scotland Crear is a brilliantly designed wedding venue nestled on a little hill next to a beautifully rugged beach overlooking the hugely impressive Scottish islands of Jura and Islay. Literally from the moment Susannah and Chris contacted me about their Crear wedding I was excited and couldn’t wait to get over there to photograph the area for myself.

The morning of the wedding day in April started with the best weather conditions anyone could have hoped for – blue spring skies and lots of white fluffy clouds. This continued for the whole day and ended with some of the most spectacular sunsets over the iconic Paps of Jura that I’ve ever seen. Because the weather was so nice Susannah and Chris decided to have their wedding ceremony outside next to the wiggly wall – my first outdoors ceremony of 2018, and hopefully not the last! The ample space to move around meant that I could capture the ceremony for them from many different angles whilst remaining inconspicuous – something that is of the utmost importance for me. Afterwards everyone mingled inside whilst Susannah, Chris and myself made the short walk down to the nearby beach for some nice relaxed photography. We were only away from the guests for a short while so Chris and Susannah could have as much time as possible with their guests before dinner started. After dinner the sun started going down and the views across the sea towards a spring storm over Jura were absolutely breathtaking. I took a few shots of the view itself and then realised that it would be brilliant if I could include the bride and groom too – I was absolutely delighted when they agreed and we had a quick 5 minute shoot just as the sun was going down (admittedly it was starting to get slightly chilly and windy by then!).

I left Crear after capturing a few Ceilidh dances with the amazing Tweed ceilidh band and made my way home but I had to keep stopping along the way to take in the amazing views. The weather in Scotland often frustrates me but when it is nice, as it was this day, it is an absolutely spectacular place to be.

The west coast of Scotland is a beautiful place to have a wedding ceremony. Just before Christmas I was in the area again for this other beautiful wedding https://www.silverphotography.co.uk/winter-elopement-arisaig-chloe-jonathan/
