A Tiny Wedding at Culzean Castle.

It had been a few years since my last visit to the wonderful Culzean Castle in Ayrshire, Scotland, so when Sarah and Mike got in touch to say that they were visiting from Minnesota in America and asked if I would photograph their tiny wedding at Culzean Castle I jumped at the chance! This will have to be a very short blog post today as I am in the middle of an editing marathon. Sarah and Mike’s lovely wedding really was a tiny one with just ten people there, including themselves, whereas I am editing a wedding from last weekend that had 150 guests, two photographers and two ceremonies – that’s a LOT of photographs to work through.

Culzean is such an amazing venue and could almost be designed for wedding photography (although I don’t think it was to be fair, I think the builders had other things on their mind at the time). Sarah and Mike got themselves ready in the magnificent Eisenhower Suite that hides away on the upper floor of the castle (and is incidentally where they and their guests stayed overnight – imagine having the whole castle to yourself for an evening!) before a lovely ceremony and drinks in the old Camellia House which must be one of the most beautiful glasshouses ever made. A few family pictures there, along with some more on the woodland walk back to the castle, then a fight with the old ladies who wouldn’t let me get a picture of the bride and groom by the sea view and then I left them to enjoy the rest of their day in peace.

Anyone who reads my blog posts will know that I absolutely love little weddings (there’s also a page on my website with more details) as they are so relaxed and I would happily photograph people’s intimate little weddings every day of the year if I could. I even have one to do tomorrow and the bride and groom flew into Glasgow yesterday and they are so relaxed about it that they haven’t even decided what they want to do with their day…
