Lodge on Loch Lomond Wedding – Christopher and Colette
There are definitely more animals at weddings these days. Over the years I’ve seen loads of dogs, and a surprising number of horses, but Christopher and Colette’s Lodge on Loch Lomond wedding was the very first time I have ever seen, wait for it… A sheep. The sheep in question was a big surprise for lover of all things ovine Colette who adores them apparently. Christopher had pre-warned me of the arrival of our woolly friend Jinsey a few days beforehand so that I was prepared but it was still surprising to see a little sheep being walked amongst the guests on its lead and harness, complete with pretty pink flowers.
As soon as I arrived at the Lodge in the little lochside village of Luss I could see the sheep influence – there were sheep cards and a stuffed sheep as presents from Christopher – but the real surprise for Colette came just after the ceremony when the newly-married couple walked up the aisle and then turned around and walked back the other way outside to the waiting fuzzy creature. A personal favourite image of mine was Colette’s look of surprise when she spotted her surprise gift from Christopher but, interestingly for me, Colette messaged me out of the blue to tell me that she had her own favourite photograph (I love it when people tell me which are their favourite images so feel free!), and it wasn’t one I would have expected. Many clients choose a romantic picture of themselves or a dramatic sweeping landscape but Colette’s favourite picture was a far more meaningful black and white image I took whilst following Christopher and her son Zachary into the decorated ceremony room at the Lodge 30 minutes before the ceremony. Staying at the back of the room I took a few discreet shots of the two of them and it was one of those that Colette liked the best. I like it too – for me it captures an emotional bond that would be completely lost of the photograph had been posed. This is why I shall always be a documentary style wedding photographer – to capture these moments.
Thank you Christopher and Colette for a great day and for letting me share your wonderful wedding with everybody!
