Hotel Du Vin Wedding – Jill and Aleksei
Over the past few years I have enjoyed photographing many a wedding at Hotel du Vin (or One Devonshire Gardens as it is also known) with some of those weddings being entirely in the hotel and others, such as Aleksei and his permanently smiling bride Jill’s Hotel du Vin wedding, utilising other locations too. Jill and Aleksei both got ready at the Hotel du Vin, with Jill opting for a brilliant stress-free morning by having no bridesmaids and only her mother (and me) in her room when she was getting ready. I myself love this idea – whilst it can be great having a bunch of your girlfriends around in the morning, squealing with excitement and generally ratcheting up the stress, it doesn’t suit everyone and Jill, a bit like myself, preferred the more tranquil option.
Jill and Aleksei had their ceremony in the beautiful Glasgow City Chambers which was somewhere I had never been to before, despite photographing weddings in and around Glasgow for about 20 years. It was absolutely stunning and I can’t understand why many more people don’t have their wedding ceremony there. After a few relaxed photographs there after the ceremony we jumped into one of the wedding cars and headed over to the greenery of Glasgow Botanic Gardens. I just love photographing in the botanics and even visit there myself on my days off, especially in the winter time when the warm and dry Kibble Palace greenhouse offers some respite from the awful Glasgow weather. Today, however, the weather was nice and we managed to capture some lovely shots both inside and outside the greenhouses before heading back to Hotel du Vin for some speeches and dinner.
Last year I photographed Morven and Chris’s Hotel du Vin wedding and we also visited the Botanic Gardens then too. You might like to take a look at their wedding here https://www.silverphotography.co.uk/wedding-photography-one-devonshire-gardens/
