Elopements in Arisaig
With several quiet white sandy beaches, each with views to the well known Isle of Skye and the smaller islands of Rum, Muck and Eigg, your elopement in Arisaig will certainly deliver on the views. It isn’t all beaches though. The tiny village of Arisaig, nestled on the western coast of the Scottish Highlands, has every kind of outdoor space you could ask for. I have photographed weddings and elopements in Arisaig in the beautiful ancient forests of Larachmhor Gardens and on the peaceful and private lawns of places such as Borrodale House.
There are a few things to consider before heading into the wilds of Scotland to hold your wedding or elopement in Arisaig. Firstly, it can be quite popular with visitors during the peak holiday season so planning to get married there at a quieter time of the year, or even a quieter time of the day, would definitely be a good idea. In the summer (peaking around the end of June) the days are so long that you could actually get married on the beach around 7pm and still have plenty of daylight, but there would be far fewer other visitors.
Of course, you could save yourself the worry and hire a whole place, like Borrodale House, so that you are the only people there anyway, but it’s still definitely worthwhile giving some thought as to the best time of the day for your ceremony. There is a little handy guide to elopements here on my site.
If you have fallen in love with the idea of weddings and elopements in Arisaig (and frankly why wouldn’t you) but you need a helping hand then I have the answer. A few years ago I teamed up with a humanist celebrant called Paula and we formed a little group called Bog Cotton Scottish Elopements. Paula actually lives in Arisaig and is an encyclopaedia of knowledge about the area. Together we can recommend all the suppliers you’ll need for your day too!
