Dennis and Victoria’s Beautiful Handmade Wedding in the Countryside
2015 was definitely the year of the Wedding Dog. All in all five of the weddings I photographed last year had dogs present, and why not? Dennis and Victoria’s lovely handmade wedding in the countryside surrounding Glasgow was, however, the only wedding where their dog, Alvar, was allowed into the ceremony at Baldernock Parish Church.
Victoria runs her own business as a textile designer (victorialogan.co.uk) so it was no surprise to me that she had put her skills to good use. Her fantastic cape was hand-crafted by herself and the whole day was full of the most amazing flowers, cakes and decorations I’ve ever seen at a wedding (I tested the cakes and they were great…). The wedding day had a slightly unusual format in that everyone stayed in the gorgeous little church for tea and cakes after the ceremony for a little while before then moving up to the reception at the Kilmardinny Arts Centre – a brilliant little place that Victoria and Dennis had made their own with loads and loads of lovely personal touches. This was one of those weddings that I tell people about when they start complaining that they can’t find a suitable venue for their wedding – there are loads of great places out there, you just have to have the imagination to be able to make the most out of them.
I really enjoyed working with Dennis, Victoria and Alvar. Their wedding was at the end of October but they were blessed with fantastic Scottish winter sunshine for the whole day and we managed to get outside and make the most of it. The low sun at this time of the year is always a challenge but the potential results are always well worth the effort.
