Andreas and Bryonie’s Wedding at Cottiers Theatre in Glasgow
I first met Bryonie and Andreas at their friends Louise and Andrew’s wedding and was overjoyed when they asked me to photograph their wedding too. Since first meeting Bryonie back in October 2013, when she was a bridesmaid for Louise, we have kept in touch via Facebook and I honestly consider both her and Andreas to be friends as well as clients and that’s a lovely position to be in. Bryonie had special plans for her wedding and I was to get to photograph the first of two ‘First Looks’ (someone needs to come up with a better name for that) at weddings this year. Bryonie thought it would be a nice idea to meet Andreas for ten minutes for a little chat (and a kiss) before the ceremony to help calm their nerves so, with levels of planning that the military would have been proud of, Andreas waited patiently in the lovely gardens opposite the fantastic 15 Glasgow hotel in the Woodlands area of the city (take note – this was a brilliant place to get ready if you are still looking for somewhere). I went to wait with the expectant groom and was very impressed with his resolve when Bryonie made him look the other way until she was all the way up close behind him. Photographically it was a lovely moment to capture and and felt privileged to be a part of it.
The rest of the day that followed was just as amazing. Andreas and Bryonie had the ceremony and reception at Cottiers Theatre in Glasgow’s West End. It was my first visit there and it was just as great as I’d hoped it would be. As we had already captured lots of natural wedding photographs before the ceremony everyone could concentrate on relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. Bryonie had always had an idea for a photograph at the top of Gardner Street, near to where she used to live. Unfortunately the clouds opened and it poured with rain. Undeterred, we called an emergency meeting and Bryonie decided to go for it anyway, resulting in some memorable photographs.
Bryonie’s beautiful dress was by Justin Alexander (from the sale rail from a bridal shop in Hampshire!) and it was very well altered by the amazing girls at Fabricated Bridal Alterations in Partick (https://www.facebook.com/BridalAlterationsGlasgow). The amazing flowers were by possibly my all-time fave florist Sparrow and Rose! The wonderful cake fairy was Sydney Johnson from Bella’s Cakes (https://www.facebook.com/bellasbakery). Bryonie added “The only thing I would say is that Cottiers were absolutely amazing to work with and all of our lovely suppliers made everything run extremely smoothly. We wanted a relaxed, informal, fun day and that’s exactly what we got!”
