Ali and Claire’s Wedding at the Western House Hotel in Ayr
Just two weeks ago I had the great pleasure of photographing Ali and Claire’s amazing wedding at the Western House Hotel in Ayr on a fantastically sunny day here in Scotland. The forecast all week was for rain but we ended up with perhaps the sunniest day of the year so far. After a long dark winter spent enviously looking at the Instagram feeds of other wedding photographers I admire in the sunny climes California and Florida, wishing I could just get outside to photograph in a wee bit of sunshine for a few minutes, my time had finally come.
The whole day was in the picturesque Western House Hotel which made everything so much more relaxed. Both Ali and Claire got ready in the same hotel so I was able to flit between the two rooms and get a little bit of them both pre-ceremony. As a nice touch Ali’s mum had arranged a surprise wedding car for Claire so that she could arrive in style, even though she was technically already there. It certainly gave me the opportunity to capture a few nice images. After a beautiful ceremony, which was cleverly by the fireplace and not the windows (take note future customers – your guests won’t be squinting into the sun and it makes for even nicer photographs that way around), we all spent the afternoon outside in the gardens where I was able to capture loads of informal shots of guests as well as the few obligatory family groups on the lawn and some of Ali and Claire around the grounds. Ali and Claire were such great people to work with, they even bought me an enormous burger for dinner. Thanks guys!
I feel I should give a mention to my fellow wedding documenter Andrew from the fabulous Erin Rose Films – it is always a pleasure to work with him and I can highly recommend that you give him a look if you are keen to get someone to film your wedding for you.
