Harry and Georgie’s Wedding in the Scottish Borders
After a run of weddings in the city I couldn’t wait to get out into the countryside to photograph Harry and Georgie’s wedding in the Scottish borders, just south of Edinburgh. Luckily, as a last minute thought, Harry sent me some GPS coordinates to his sister-in-law’s farm near the tiny village of Heriot which was handy otherwise I’d still be looking for it today…
I mainly photograph weddings in Glasgow and weddings in Edinburgh and, although I enjoy photographing them all, regardless of where they are, there is always something appealing about a lovely wedding out in the beautiful scenery that Scotland has to offer. I just love the trees and greenery, whether it is raining or sunny, and as a photographer it’s always fantastic when you get to take clients outside for even a short while. Georgie and Harry were fortunate to be able to use the grounds of Georgie’s sister’s stables, Crookston, to hold their wedding reception and the local Heriot Kirk provided a perfect ceremony location. The Crookston stables are in the floor of a valley so after the wedding ceremony, at the suggestion of Georgie’s sister, we drove up a gravel wind farm road so that we could capture the stunning views over the whole area. It was absolutely beautiful and gave a nice extra dimension to the wedding photographs. Back down at the farm we didn’t have to go far to capture a few more portraits as the woodland and rhododendron flowers around the stables made for a stunning backdrop.
A few days after this wedding I was back out in the countryside again, although this time it was over on the west coast. Keep your eyes peeled for a blog post about that one coming soon! And remember, you can follow my work on Instagram @silvphotography.
